Opening up the trans

Here's my situation...I have one trans with a bad input shaft bearing, and one good trans with broken rear mounting tabs. I obviously want to mate the good case with the good internals, and have begun to do so following a manual.

I am at the point where I need to press out the input shaft but am having trouble doing so. Are there ways to do it without the specific tool? Any other suggestions/solutions?
