    Tranny Noise

Hey guys when I let my clutch in I hear a bit of a thunk. This usually happens at low speeds when I can hear all the sounds the car is making. Also I don't know if it's related but when I'm at around 80mph the car kind of vibrates hard. Maybe a toasted guibo or something else?? What do you guys think?

Most vibrations at higher speeds will be caused by a problem with the wheels or tires and that's where you should look first for the 80mph problem.

A clunk when releasing the clutch could be a problem with the drive shaft, but it could just as easily be from bad motor/trans/diff mounts or worn rear suspension bushings. A through inspection by experienced BMW tech should reveal probable causes.

Hmm, well a thorough inspection would make me wanna kill myself cause I know he/she would keep going, "And that, and that, and fix that..." Dammit. Hmm, so any bored bmw tech's wanna diagnose my car? :D

Sure, bring it to Huntsville and I'll go through it. But be warned that it probably will be a "you need to replace this, and that, and...". You have an 18 year old car and unless it has been religiously maintained there's probably a good bit of maintenance/repairs needed. The good news is that these cars are very easy to work on and parts are readily available. While the laundry list from a through inspection might be initially depressing, not everything will require immediate action and you'll know what needs attention and can plan out a schedule of repairs. A good tech will tell you what needs immediate attention and what can be deferred for a while.
