5 speed swap on a '90 airbag car - couple questions

    1) Airbag pedal boxes are different than non-airbag units, right?

    2) What electrical or wiring issues are there when removing the auto tranny from the car, if any? I vaguely recall some posts here and there about this subject, but my lame attempt at searching didn't find much.

    1) Yes the pedal boxes/assemblies are different .
Save yourself some trouble and just swap out the auto brake with the manual brake and clutch pedal , you can keep your airbag box in place while you do this .

2)You'll need to bypass/defeat the neutral safety switch wiring for the car to start as well as wire up the reverse light switch wires .
Depending on how you bypass the neutral safety switch your cruise or may not work .

Sweet. I'm assuming that non airbag pedals fit into the airbag box... Good times, we have a few junkyards with E30s around here. Thanks for the help!

Yes I meant to imply that non airbag pedals would work in your box .
Try to get a set that has the clutch pedal sprung from above, but if not then any pedals will work .

Ok, another thing that came to my attention today... If I order a clutch kit for a '90 325i, I'll need to find a single mass flywheel, right?

            Yes .

Why don't you list out the parts that you plan on using and we'll see if that works and what else you'll need .

              5 speed transmission crossmember
Clutch kit for a '90 325i - cover, disc, and release bearing
              Pilot bearing
Release bearing fork, spring, and pivot
Master and slave cylinders, hydraulic line
              Brake and Clutch pedals

So, in order to work with all of this stuff I will need a single mass flywheel. What years came with this flywheel, and what years had the dual mass unit?

Am I missing anything else? Of course while the 5 speed swap is happening I'll be doing a rear main seal, probably an OP gasket, and some other things...

Nice but I meant ofr you to list the donor cars for things like the trans and d-shaft . :)

All the 325i or 325is cars came with the single mass that you want .
