Adding mass to the selector rod?

Is this a common thing in BMW's? I know with VW's it makes for smoother/nicer feeling operation. I searched the intarwebz and found one company that did it to their E36/E46 kits but no one else. :(

I took a piece of 3/4" solid shaft and TIG'ed the factory ends on (with a bit of bend for the short shifter) and added about one pound to it. Gonna slap it in tonight and see what happens.

This is how I build my VW rabbit shift kits. Heim jointed and weighted and they feel fantastic.

When I had mine shortened, the welder filled it with led.

I have heard of people winding solder around them and then wrapping tape to hold it on.
