    How do you swap CSB?

    How exactly does the CSB come of the driveshaft?

    Is there a guide for it? I can get the driveshaft out, I just need to know how to replace the CSB so I can do it in a day and not take it out then try figure out how it comes off and waste time and have no car etc..

    Yes, you can do it in far less than one day.

    Cut the rubber surround around the CSB. Remove the circlip at the front of the CSB with long nose pliers or a set of snap-ring pliers.

    Use a large gear puller (this link shows what they look like: http://www2.northerntool.com/product/13315.htm) to pull the bearing off.

    Install the new bearing by carefully tapping on the inner race of the CSB until it bottoms out. You can use a pin punch to seat the bearing. Do not hit the outer race to drive in the bearing, and do not hit the bearing dust cover.

      If the cause of the CSB replacement is due to a failure of the rubber mount (the usual failure mode), in almost every case you'll need to also replace the drive shaft. The cause of a failure of the CSB's rubber mount in almost every case will be binding drive shaft u-joints.
      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

        Alright. But is there any way to possibly use the CSB from another good driveshaft?

        Because I need to swap the CSB of my 87 manual driveshaft to fit into a 89 model and I have a auto driveshaft which I planned to take the CSB from. Possible?

        And how does the driveshaft come apart (split in 2). Because I imagine it would need to go in half to get the bearing off and new one on.

          Make sure you mark it ( the spline) down before you take it apart.

                Loosen the collar nut and slide the two parts of the drive shaft apart. If the drive shaft is in good condition they should slide apart pretty easily. If the spline and socket are corroded enough to make that difficult, ditch that drive shaft.
