    drivetrain noise

my cars making a clunking noise whenever in motion and it sounds like its coming from the middle or towards the back, its kinda hard to tell. sounds more like its coming from the back.

its not the center support, thats new and everything there looks good. i cant SEE anything wrong towards the rear, like with the flange from driveshaft to differential.

i just swapped the differential a few weeks ago. this clunking didnt start then, it just started a couple days ago. im hoping the differential isnt bad...

any advice on what else i should look at?

does it sound like its rotating with the driveshaft? or just a random clunk now and again?

it definitely is clunking with the rotation of the driveshaft

CV joints? there's not much from the transmission and back. if the clunking frequency increases with speed, it can be CV/CSB. if it intensifies with load (more gas), its most likely the CV joints. if it intensifies when you turn/load its most likely CSB...if it makes noise when you shift probably some loose flange bolts, bad diff bushing...bad differential is doubtful imo..check CV boots....idk what do you think it is??

well when it first started, a few days after the diff was put in, i thought it must be the CSB cause it sounded just like when they go bad, so i checked it out and found the one of the bolts holding it in was stripped. ive fixed all that by retapping both holes and buying two new bolts. the clunking is still there though..

edit: btw the way im not the one who stripped the bolt, that was Reeves BMW of Tampa.
