Yes, unfortunately my car seems to have it. I was accelerating fairly hard and shifted into 3rd, as soon as I let the clutch out there was a boom, then a thap thap thap. The clutch still felt like it was working,as per pedal feel, but the car wouldn't move in any gear. Because of the clutch feel, I thought I nuked the tranny. When I started pulling it out of the car, bits of friction material started falling out. The PO said the clutch was new around 12,000 miles ago, and looking at the thickness of the shrapnel, he was telling the truth. It was a Sachs pressure plate with some generic friction disk, all that it said on the offending item was "made in Korea".
Has anyone experienced this, cheap clutch or not? Poking around on evilbay you can get a clutch kit for around the price of a Sachs clutch disk. Does anyone have any experence with the "F1" clutch kits, or any of the others that pop up on there. I'm a cheap ass, but pulling transmissions out while laying on my back is not my idea of a good time.
