Diff going bad? I need a second opinion.

    What's going on guys.

My symptoms are very simple... if I don't take off from a stop like a normal human being (i.e. at the track) the rear end clunks.

Now I am starting to get a vibration which is increasing in intensity every time I am making a right hand turn. If you're holding the wheel centered, any turn to the right (whether it'd be a slight turn, or turning to lock), the steering wheel will start showing this slight vibration. It's no shaking like something is about to fall off, but

Doesn't occur to the left, doesnt occur going straight. Only to the right.

Does anyone else have a different idea? All wheel bearings are fine, and I dont think tie rods could cause such a vibration (they are the oldest parts currently on my suspension/steering aside from the rack itself).

    So thoughts are always appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Erick

Make sure your CSB is still there and the guibo as well. not sure about the right hand vibration deal.. Also your urethane bushings could have cold formed and started to have some slop in the bolt holes.

Yup, those still look good. I replaced them in May, as I was planning to do the cross-country trip.

that vibrating in your tranny tunnel right under your ebrake on right turns has to be the CSB...i had the same problem with my first e30.. same problem. vibration frequency varies with speed and its force with throttle load...but the vibration reflected just lightly on the steering wheel, i was only noticeable..

as for the rear end clunking idk. i would check the driveshaft to diff bolts, could be loose. could be the pinion bearing or the lsd...its clutches and as they wear, the end play between the axle and spider gear increases. cracks in the mounting frame will probably cause it and probaby junk the car..i wouln't know where to start with you. you are probably one of those capable of replacing the diff in 30minutes that would be a good place to start specially with u-pull-it 10minutes away. good luck bro
        No more e30s for me.
