Can I put a newer driveshaft/CSB in an older car?

I've got an '87 in need of a driveshaft, but all I'm finding is newer style driveshafts (that use the larger CSB). Anyhone know if I can replace both the driveshaft and CSB with the newer style? Are there other differences?
    Thanks

the newer style CSB won't mount up to the chassis correctly at all.

Unless you made some kind of adapter plate that was pretty strudy, it won't work. The difference is enough that you can't just slot the CSB to work... but you'd need a full on 'conversion'

No reason you couldn't get this driveshaft, but then swap out the CSB to the correct one.

So I could use a newer driveshaft with an old style CSB? Is that correct?

The rear section on the later driveshaft is 7mm longer. You could do it but it would be a tight fit and the rubber on the CSB would be stretched a bit.
