    4th gear trouble

    Hey guys

I did a five speed swap about two weeks ago and have been having endless problems with the car since.

First off, the mech who did the job innitially put an e36 gearbox in so i bought a reconditioned g260 gearbox from a friend. It had been standing for a while so i got my mech to change the oil and seals...

Then, he couldnt find the correct selector rod but eventually found one (according to him)...

Now, i installed a brand new master cylinder and slave and my mech finished the installation of the gearbox today. He calls me up later and tells me that he drove the car and all the gears are fine except 4th gear which pops out when he releases the accelerator...

What could be the issue? Could it be that be didnt use the correct selector rod or is it the gearbox? Theres no grinding noise and it had been reconditioned about 7 months ago.

    Please help guys...

I wonder if the link rod might not be installed from the wrong side. That can result in interference between the end of the link rod and one of the bolts on the rear of the transmission when 4th gear is engaged.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Ok guys...

Just a little update... My shift rod bushings are gone so that might be one of the causes as well... The reason i say this is because if i put it in forth slower and release the clutch slowly it takes 4th and doesnt pop out...

Also, my one engine mount looks like its on its way out... This could be another cause...

Just a question though... On top of the gearbox, there is a breather pipe... Should there be a valve or cover there or just the pipe cause there is a bit of oil leaking...

I definitely know its not the seals as i had them replaced before installation...
