    M20/Getrag 240 pilot bearing hunt

Hey guys. I'm getting close to putting the drivetrain back into my car. I have an M20, and a Getrag 240 out of a '91 318is. I can't figure out which f'in pilot bearing to use. The M20 bearing ID is (lots) too small for the input shaft, and the M42 bearing which fits the input shaft just slips right in and out of the back of the crank with no press: it's only got a couple thou clearance though. What pilot bearing should I use?? ARGHH!!!

    Follow up-

So I measured everything this morning with my dial-verniers. The Getrag 240 has a 15mm pilot. The bore of the crank is 32mm, and the bearing is 10mm wide. The fit onto the input shaft is good--zero-clearance slip. But the size of both the OD of the bearing and the crank bore is exactly 1.260 inches (32mm), resulting in zero press. As many threads as there are in this forum about "I can't get this infernal bearing out of my crank!!", I have a hard time believing that the bearing should just slide right into the crank. Is this right? No other pilot bearing I've worked with just slides in. I'm tempted to use some loctite red and call it done... Or is it supposed to be able to move around for some reason?

      use a early 323i pilot bearing, that's what m42 guys w m20 flywheels use
basicly what you have, only there's an m20 connected to the m20 flywheel
