My car is a 1991 318is. Im looking at removing my ac and my clutch is shot (sister decided to try and steal my car but cant drive stick) so I need to replace it. If I get a new clutch do I need to get one that is specifically made for cars with out ac? I would like to know what the big difference is between both clutches. Because if I dont remove the ac now but want to in the future will I need to buy a new clutch again?

Oh geez...kinda new to cars, huh? Its OK, we all started somewhere.
An "A/C clutch" is the one on the A/C compressor. The one in the transmission will be the same regardless of your HVAC system. (technically, it is between your motor and your transmission)
So now on to your sister...your clutch was already shot. Unless she was ripping down the road at 40MPH and popped it into reverse (which would have killed more than a clutch) she did not kill your clutch. She might have been the final nail in the coffin, but it was really weak before she tried to steal your car.
I assume you beat her down thoroughly?
Oh yeah, welcome to R3V.

Okay thank you for your input that's what I pretty much figured wtf does an ac have to do with my clutch.....The reason for me asking is because when I was looking for clutches they would have two seperate part numbers and one would be lable w/ac and one would say w/o ac. Im new to cars but know basics but the part numbers was just something that was throwing me off.Originally posted by Good & TightIt takes real man to mount a big woman, all you haters are just scared boys.

In alternators, brackets, hoses, lots of other shit A/C makes a difference.
Keep in mind the auto parts store software asks the parts twat if the car has A/C.
I went into a parts store to buy a clutch and was asked "Automatic or Manual"?
I asked if she was reading from a script or if she had ever worked on a car.
