Good source for new drive axles?

I need new drive axle boots on both sides. Last I checked, one kit is $60 and I need at least 2 kits.

So I'm wondering if I should just replace the whole shaft like this:

I can almost get a whole rebuilt shaft for the price of one boot kit.

Is this Cardone stuff crap? Any other source for this kind of stuff?

    Thanks!

a reman axle is a reman axle. I'm just wished EMPI was making new units. ( you can get EMPI units for $43.00 wholesale.)

I got new ones (or remans) from Advance Auto Parts, IIRC.

        $89.99 + core & free shipping

I initially thought they were wrong... but weren't.

In the honda shop I ran, even if they just bought a boot, I put in an axle, cuz it is less work, and saves money in the end.

Were you able to bring the cores into the local store? Or did you have to ship them?

            Seems like a good deal.

Yea, I learned that the hard way on my last car. It's a lot of work and quite messy.

bought online, turned in cores at local store. No shipping required.
They credit your card upon core return too.

              Thanks - Jon

I picked one up at o'reilly's autoparts. They had to order it for me but it came in within a few days. It even came with a packet of grease to pack the inner joint. I think it cost me $70 with a $75 core charge.

edit: here is a link to the one I got:

but i have a commercial account, so maybe thats why...

Looks like AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts no longer sell these axles. AutoZone has a Duralast version for $105 though.

                          Damnit.

I guess I could go with the other places, but then I would likely have to ship them the cores. No O'Reilly's near me in NJ. :(

                          Any other places?
