    Getrag 260 on engine stand?

...Out of the car obviously. Is this possible? I thought it might make it easier to work on the thing...replacing seals and such. Attach the bell housing side to the stand brackets.

Never thought about doing that. I've always done them on a bench.

Can't remember if the getrag boxes input shaft stands out slightly proud of the bellhousing surface, but the 2 or 3 gearoxes I've done (Japanese ones) just stood them up on the bellhousing and pulled them down from the back to the front (more or less)

Do it on a bench, less mucking around IMO.
