A new Problem

It could be the slave's internal spring broke possibly. I'd try that first since it would be quicker/cheaper to swap with a known good part than a master. Have you checked to see if youre leaking any brake fluid? -
There's not an internal spring in the slave. The clutch itself is the spring return for the slave cylinder. If the neither the slave nor the lines are leaking, the master cylinder has failed or the clutch has collapsed (which usually results in loud noises from the bell housing). Odds are all you need is a new master cylinder. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
