    Shift Linkage

    The attached picture shows the standard e30 325 shift linkage, i marked off how long the one i want should be, a friend of mine is using the longer one of his car but does not know what it cam out of, anybody know which car had the longer linkage?

    You understand that the longer linkage moves the shifter forward, right? I know the early "sheel metal console" shift selector rod (the correct name for that rod) is longer than the one that came in my '87 325is.

      That length looks roughly correct for an E30 M3.
      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

        yes i do understand that it should move a bit forward, im just trying to understand how he got his to sit dead centre........

        i doubt its from an e30 m3 coz we dont get those cars here

          looks like the one pictured is from a late model and the one not pictured is from an early model
