Use a small pocket screwdriver. Reach up over the top and aim the screwdriver backwards and pry the tittle tab out enough to start rotating it upwards.
It got that name for a reason: I had my car on a lift while I did it and it still sucked. Good luck!
Edit: I see the transmission is out of the car. Change it now! it will be so much easier.
best way i have found is to drop the trans down a bit, get a stubby screwdriver in between the transmission and the u-shaped part and pull up/toward the back of the car
#18 & 19
Has a metal band around it that you pop off and use a pick to take the pin out. piece of cake.

Wait, that gives slop? I have a poly bushing in there and I still have some slop. I remember people like Jordan saying that after whatever they did to this clip, they had less than a dime's length of side to side shifter play.

#14 is what you are looking for then. Just buy a new one.
yes, this can get worn out. and may i say that this thread has been quite confusing
Agreed, but I believe #14 is the cause of slop. I've always felt massive slop on it on all transmissions I've seen. The #3 I've done many times, and like I said, it's on polyurethane right now. Still some slop left over.
