That pesky bitch clip on the getrags....

Does anyone have more info on that? I have a new tranny that I'm going to put in and I can't seem to find anything with the search function.

    Thanks,
    Erick

Yeah, that gives the slop on the shifter. How does one go about removing that?

yeah... if you're talking about the shifter clip, its only a little bit difficult if its never been out of the car.

It's on the front of the shift carrier, attached to the top of the tranny. It's a pin that goes through and has a clip. Check RealOEM.

Use a small pocket screwdriver. Reach up over the top and aim the screwdriver backwards and pry the tittle tab out enough to start rotating it upwards.

It got that name for a reason: I had my car on a lift while I did it and it still sucked. Good luck!

Edit: I see the transmission is out of the car. Change it now! it will be so much easier.

best way i have found is to drop the trans down a bit, get a stubby screwdriver in between the transmission and the u-shaped part and pull up/toward the back of the car

                #18 & 19

Has a metal band around it that you pop off and use a pick to take the pin out. piece of cake.

Wait, that gives slop? I have a poly bushing in there and I still have some slop. I remember people like Jordan saying that after whatever they did to this clip, they had less than a dime's length of side to side shifter play.

                      #3 is the bitch clip.

18 and 19 aren't too bad, just use a small pick to pull the sheath/clip back and push the pin out with a screwdriver.

What is a big contributor to slop is #4. Or at least in my case it was.

#14 is what you are looking for then. Just buy a new one.

Agreed, but I believe #14 is the cause of slop. I've always felt massive slop on it on all transmissions I've seen. The #3 I've done many times, and like I said, it's on polyurethane right now. Still some slop left over.
