    Z3 short shifter

I put an M-roadster shift lever in my E30.. does anybody else have one of these in their cars? Its different than the 1.9 Z3 shifter, which it turns out i should have used instead.
This MZ3 shifter has such a short throw when used in the E30, that i grind 2nd gear sometimes when driving it hard. It feels like the shift it happening before the trans is fully de-clutched. (basically my hand is working faster than my foot)
I have tried to adjust my shifting habits to make this work.. making sure i fully depress the clutch (and fast too) before shifting gears, but sometimes i forget and i still grind 2nd. I know my clutch is ok cause it never grinded with the other shifter.
people are telling me to take this shifter out and get the 1.9 shifter. i could do that but it sucks.. i'd rather make this setup work
is there anything i can do to increase the throw of the clutch slave or something, to increase the release speed ratio in relation to my clutch pedal travel?

get some stainless clutch lines, so the engagement is more crisp and precise.

really? do the rubber hoses really expand that much that you feel a difference? cool i never thought of that. i have braided lines on my brakes but never thought of doin that to the clutch

I have heard these cause problems while stainless steel lines are good for brake lines I believe the hydraulic clutch system is dependent on rubber lines in order to expand and contract under specific conditions

Also, did you bend your shift linkage to clear the harmonic balancer? Also, check your brake fluid level to make sure you system is fully primed with fluid

yeah i bent the CRAP outta that linkage to clear the harmonic dampner.

AND I know how to shift. of course its not that difficult, but after i installed this shifter i noticed i grind 2nd sometimes, thats all.. its not that big a deal but ive driven many bmw's realaggresive and ive never grinded a gear.. so i know its not me its the shifter.
i even had a friend who races bmw's drive it and he said yeah something aint right

I've had Z3 M shifters in my last 4 E30's and havent ground gears at all.
