    325es driveshaft vibration damper removal

    So I'm trying to remove the remove the damper from my driveshaft because I am swapping to a late style shifter mount and a Garagistic DSSR, however I can't get the darn thing off.

    Mine is mounted behind the output flange, so even though I have the driveshaft dropped, the damper is still in place. I have a thin walled 30mm socket, but it still doesn't fit into the flange to get the nut off. I believe it is because of lock washer thing, you can see it in this pic;

    What I'm not sure of, is whether or not that thing is stuck behind the nut, or if i can pull it out and then get the socket on the nut. Based on the pics of the part at ECS; https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/23211490120/ I assume I should be able to pull it out, but I will probably destroy it in the process, so that's another part I have to order.

    So thats my question, can I yank that out of the way, or do I need an even thinner walled socket?

    Pretty sure that style lock is put on after the nut, so it should come off, or at least deform easily.

      That's what I was thinking, but I wanted some confirmation first since I don't want to jack it all up if it's stuck behind the nut, as that will just make it harder to get the nut off. When I get home today I will attempt to pull it off. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

        So yes, I was able to just pry that out. It does deform, but comes out pretty easy. Already ordered a new one. Now if the rest of the parts would just get here, I could actually finish this job. But at the rate most shipping is going right now it won't be back together before Thanksgiving. Bummer. At least the flange came off easy after I took the nut off.
