CV joint rebuild, binding after rebuild?

Took apart CV Joint, removed balls and cage, cleaned and reinstalled.
binding, stiff, less range of movement.????
    Anyone help with proper orientation..
    something is off.

    Thanks

Did you put the cage back in the correct orientation? I'm not sure exactly which CV joint you're talking about, but in some designs the cage is directional.

I @$$ume you put grease into it...

Inner CV joint on axle shaft.
i have not measured cage and could not find any discernible difference.
i will take apart and measure cage

Put grease in it...... hmm grease is everywhere!!!! on my new boot, on my shaft, on my toolbox, on my shorts, on my toes between my fingers, and on my coffee pot.. i think was able to get some on the cage an balls... its a messy job for sure.

Make sure that you have the inner piece oriented the correct way. Take a look at this picture. You need to have the inner piece's "small" sides pointed towards the outer pieces "large" sides and vise versa.

It will seem like it won't want to go that way,m but once you get it in, it shouldn't bind.

Also, make sure you have the whole outer piece the correct way. The side with two lines should be on the outside.
