    Getrag 260 production date question

Hey guys, Im looking to rebuild the shifter linkage on my getrag 260, and get the parts for ECS Tuning. They have two really nice kits for that with a turner sport upgraded shifter arm bracket. Anyways, I need to know the production date of my trans. There is no production stamp anywhere, just numbers on the side and the inside of the bellhousing. I know the trans is from 1989, but I need to know if it was before or after september. ECS makes two kits and one is for after 09/89, and the other is before 09/89. Im just wondering if there is anyone who can help me out here.
The numbers on the side of my trans are 260.0.1346.90
    Inside 260.0.1602
    back of trans 260.0.1060.92
    thanks yall!

The difference is probably with "Shift Rod Lever Joint." There were two styles, one is longer than the other. The shorter and "newer-style" is 25117503525.

IMO get this one along with a DSSR and z3 short shifter (25117527252), and enjoy!

Do you know the sizes? like the exact dimensions of the shift rod lever joint?
      Thanks!

No. They're interchangeable (meaning either can be installed on the transmission), but require different shift rods. Again, I'm assuming this is the only difference between the two kits that you mentioned.

So, if I get the newer kit, then I need the shorter shift rod. Got it. But do you know the lengths of the shift rods themselves? I just want to buy the kit and not a z3 shifter or a DSSR because Im trying to be budget friendly. I just want to know which kit fits my trans. Sorry If I am not understanding you correctly, Im not very familiar with the names of the parts on the shift linkage yet.

By "longer," I don't mean the length that these protrude from the transmission. The way they connect to the shifter rod is a bit different. Regardless, my recommendation stands.

Much easier to explain with the diagram: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=25_0074

Assuming you have a late-model m20-powered e30, the shifter rod (#10) is going to be 187mm. This does not change.

Depending on which style of selector joint you currently have (#13), the end which attaches to the shifter rod (#10) is either shorter or longer. You need to figure out which one you have. You either have 25117503525 or 25117501309. 25117503525 is shorter and newer.

I'd highly recommend the DSSR and short shifter, really tightens up the shifter throw and makes driving much more enjoyable.

Also, I would just piece my own kit together with OEM parts. Just look at the diagram. I think Turner sells #13 not as an OEM unit. I would go with an OEM unit.
