    Won't shift into second @ redline?

    Hard to shift into second at the redline, anywhere around 5k it shifts ok. The shifter bushings are worn out, could that be the cause of it?
    I'm also running single grade HD oil SAE 20. Maybe it's too thick? But that's what the manual calls for.
    Anyone had similar issues? Thanks in advance.

    I have the same issue.

    My shifter bushings are also fubar.

    If your shifter bushings are fucked and you have a stock shifter, the shifter itself hits the the tunnel when you try to shift fast. At least that is what I noticed on mine.

      Whoa, what book is that?

      2nd gear syncro is particularly prone to damage in these things.

      You should be running either Dexron ATF (better yet Redline's MTL) in an orange label trans or GL-4 (again better yet Redline's MTL) in all others.

        He might be right cause everytime i select revers the shifter rubs on the console. And i noticed when i shift slower it shifts ok at least on the street. I didn't try to shift slower at the track; although, i should have.

        Liam, i have bmw electronic manual and it says to put in heavy duty single grade oil 20, 40 depending on climate. It also says you can use atf.

            Yup, Redline MTL/75w90 is always going to be your best tranny fluid option...stuff works miracles

            Sounds like bushings or perhaps syncro issues

              Redline MTL all the way. It is fine to use it in both the green and orange label boxes.
