I am working on a 325i and it has a bad transmission. I am having trouble finding a local replacement, that is priced reasonably. I have found a few 318 transmissions around and was wondering what the differances were.
thanks:p
If it's an early 318i (M10) transmission, then the bolt pattern for the bellhousing will be different.
If it's a late 318i (M42) transmission, then it will have the same bolt pattern as the 6-cylinder trans, but will use a different drive shaft and shift linkage. Also I think 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd gear have closer ratios, cant remember for sure.
