Good afternoon.
Prompt please, on mine М62B44TU it is necessary to change the Double mass wheel.
Tell if to put please from JBR firm and what set of coupling should be put, if I use the 6th high-speed transmission?
JBR the facilitated mass wheel
Clutch disk from М30.
And clamping SAC mechanism standard M62TU
Such option will work?

Yep, it's a critical piece so :) I just wasn't sure if B30 vs B40 / B44 flywheels are interchangable or not (with matching clutches).Leave a comment:

Yap, it's an expensive game but on the other hand you'll end up having a flywheel that won't ever die :)
All M60 / M62 / S62 flywheels are the same regards to gearbox, the clutch disc makes the difference..Leave a comment:

Is this what you ordered - LWFM62 ? That will work with 5speed tranny though?Leave a comment:

Apparently the reason the m62 flywheel is so much more expensive, is the timing ring. UUC buys the timing ring from BMW and installs it on their lightweight flywheels. The ring is $140, hence the price difference.
The reason I know this is because I just got off the phone with UUC, I called them to order the lightweight e39 540i flywheel. UUC gave me a bangin price, cheaper then the JB that BW & Turner sells, so screw it.
Anyone want the e39 540i dual mass to play with?Leave a comment:

Oh thats right, the one the list for under $700 for 530i is for m30..DAMNIT.
This is getting expensive lolLeave a comment:

Here is what they told me below after I asked what would work for e34 or e39 v8 and e34 5 speed transmission and 240mm kits
" Jean, The aluminum flywheel replacement we offer for the late (6/96-'03) E39 540i M62 4.4L sounds like it would be the ticket and it accepts a 240mm clutch disc. Our PN is 520-150-240, weighs approx. 13.0 lbs. and sells for $798.00."
Right, that's the setup that Bruce is running.Leave a comment:

Jean, remember my posts in the other thread... I don't think JB makes a lightweight flywheel for the 530 V8, the one listed on their site is for the Euro m30 car (unless they've told you differently).Leave a comment:

I am leaning towards using the JB e34 530i flywheel wiith the 530i 5speed tranny so that should let me use 240mm clutch kits.
Any specific kit you guys recommend that will bolt right in w/o any modifications ?Leave a comment:

In a perfect world, we would all have custom made, perfect working parts, with no regard to cost, wouldn't we?
Obviously I'm aware that the single mass lightweight flywheel is the best option. But I'm attempting to find a way to avoiding spending $1200+ on my clutch/flywheel setup. If I can get that center portion machined down, I will have a useable setup for about $400.Leave a comment:

That's why people don't use twin-mass flywheels with single-mass flywheel clutches ...
Just get proper single-mass FW done by a local machine shop, will save you tons of headache and delete 10kg of rotating mass :)Leave a comment:

Uhh, problem.
2000 540i dual-mass flywheel, m52 Sachs Sport clutch.
As you can see, the inner "spokes" of the disc are nearly resting on the protruding center area of the flywheel. Any pressure on the disc, and they actually touch. Obviously, even if they aren't touching now, they will when clutch material wears away.
What if i have a machine shop grind down that entire protruding lip?
I can see why the UUC e39 540i flywheel isn't an issue:
And I can see why a stock e39 540i clutch isn't an issue:
