What part of VA are you in? I just looked at that CL ad and was contemplating buying a spare. Looks like you beat me to it! -
Thanks dude! I've been following your swap here and on e30t. Love it!
It is called "work".
Can't wait 'till after Vintage to start accumulating parts....
Going today to pick up the engine.Leave a comment:

Don't sweat it... the replies will come. That was a good find and the 5 speed setup will work just fine. There's a lot of info in the sub-forum on cooling, clutch setup for the 5 speed and more. Welcome to the V side, Lol!

Slammin_e28's M60 swap. Annual update.
So. Today at work I was searching C'list for a M30B35 to throw in the sedan (1991 325i). Searched for "BMW engine" as my area sucks when it comes to finding BMW parts on C'list, so I've learned to search broad, and sift through the rabble.
About 9:03am:
First thing to pop up was an add for a 1995 BMW V8.
My eyes widened...
Price: $500
Eyes wider....
Mileage: 130k.
Bam!
12:02pm, called the guy.
6:05pm arrived at his house to look at the engine.
It's an alusil. Was in his 1995 540i 6 speed until he totaled doing some spirited driving. He was the second owner of the car and had taken immaculate care of it, as was evident by the condition of his e36 and wife's e30 verts. 6sp transmission and FW were already sold. Just had the engine and some misc e34 parts. Engine comes with chipped ECU, Turner Motorsports IIRC.

This is where I shall document my swap over the Summer. Having just been kinda thrown into this, I'm still learning about the V8 swap, so bear with me. Got a looooong way to go, but being rid of that pesky M20 will be totally worth it.Last edited by slammin.e28; 12-31-2012, 10:12 AM.Tags: None
