    Hydro-boost brakes?

Spinoff from another thread, didn't want to hijack...

    Could you just run a P/S fluid res from a hydro-boost car (e28 535i), and a booster/accumulator (e28 535i) with the master cyl of a hydro-boost car (e28 535i). See what I'm getting at here?

    e28 535i

Plumbing would be a cinch, as there is no need to have a different P/S pump. You'd just have to swap the reservoir and install the related accumulator/brake parts. Since e28's didn't have any of the traction control and self leveling shit, but did have ABS I see no real problem. Everything should be in relatively the same position as the e30 stock booster/MC setup, so running all kinds of hard lines and shit would be moot. The reservoir to P/S rack and pump are soft lines. You'd just have to make sure the lengths were correct, which I would assume in using e28 parts they would be as on the e28 everything is on the same side of the engine bay (right).

    Bam.

I have an e30 shell and e28 shell with brake/P/S parts I will test fit the MC/accumulator parts on this week.

    Problem? Looking for some input.

The second part of the solution is the custom pedal-box, in order to shift the CL of the booster/MC far enough to the driver's side for valve cover clearance.

And then, with respect to braking hydraulics, is the output of the booster compatible with a variety of tandem master cylinders from BMW? I believe the MC that comes with the e28 is a straight bore, 23.8mm diameter unit. You'll lose a lot of rear-brake using that (with stock e30 rear brake calipers).

The pedal box isn't something I have had time to look into yet. I feel I'd need to get hands on with that. I'll make a mock up of the engine in relation to the firewall and see what I can come up with.

Popular e28 upgrade is to use a 750i MC. It bolts right onto the e28 booster. I'll be running SS lines as well, with a caliper upgrade in the future.
