Yes. And then there are AC, Cruise Control and additional fan control unit that need to be wired on top of the normal E30 V8 wiring.

Work still in progress, hoping to get it finished by tomorrow.

All you need to do is match up the c101 pins, right? What is the complication with the cruise control, the AC, or the addl fan?

Oooooh, I take it that the e30 you're swapping into doesn't have any of that......right?

Well, if it would be that simple it'd be done already. You have the C101/X20 interface, then you've the two 18-pin connectors near ECU, shifter-connector, auto program selector, AC control and so on...

Yea, the E30 didn't have any of that before.

Been very busy but the project is advancing anyways. Just picked freshly-painted parts and some other stuff, hoping to get them on during the weekend.

The engine sits on its place with the most important parts on.

We encountered a very happy thing, as we found out that damn - the engine can be lifted on place from underneath without valve covers! There is only couple mm space on each side but that's enough :)

          First start next week .. ? :)

Nice! Now, will you be able to bolt up the exhaust manifolds with the engine in the bay??

And how do they determine displacement? With many engines it's impossible to determine the displacement by just looking at what engine it is - i.e. how would they know if you bored/stroked your m60?
I am also curious to what lengths they go to to actually get this info. It is also always possible the OP is sandbagging so it is not public knowledge that he's a 4.4 posing as a lesser M60 ;)
              paint sucks

Yap, there's very much space for that as the front axle can be bolted up after the engine and exhaust manifolds :)

If they do something like dyno the car, this calls for a restrictor plate!

Thats awesome news! I wonder if the b40 is exactly as wide as b30?

Same engine, also M62 block is "the same" - the differences are internal.

Today we bolted small parts here and there, after I get the bolts and nuts from treatment on Friday (hopefully!) I start putting the engine room together..

Well, damn!Let me now how it goes with bolting up the exhaust manifolds WITH the m60 in the e30 engine bay :)

I have learned not to do this the hard way.

Guys, there's tons of space in there as you can see :)

Otherwise the project is almost stopped due to severe problems with getting all the small parts, bolts etc plated / coated. They were supposed to be ready already by Christmas but the whole thing has been fucked up very, very badly.... God knows when I get the parts to go on with this project..

Anyways, some progress has been done.

Diff is renewed with all new bearings etc, ratio is 2.93 and of course LSD installed (along with the "bling-cover" of course) :)

Other than that, injectors have been cleaned / washed, driveshaft going to be rebuilt, suspension put together etc... More pictures of those can be found at: http://v8cabrio.kuvat.fi
