Damn dude, you are truly lucky. I was reading your thread over on the other forum and then all of the sudden nothing...
So I see you explained your dunking story over here.
I used to race bicycles, and there were certain guys that would crash a lot or get run into by cars sometimes, sometimes more than once... they common story was that they had the right-of-way... it pays in situations like this to think that no one sees you, no one cares about you, and expect the inevitable.
So, where are you in the rebuild? Did you reference any of the stuff on the german sites?

I just talked with the body shop and they said it is currently half painted. I was going to try and get some pictures but my schedule is not permitting it right now.

Hmmmm I thought this car was an m62? Weird. The valve covers appear to be from an m62 as well (two holes on the left valve cover hold the battery post to jump a car from the back of an alternator.)

Although the m62 valve covers will bolt on the m60 heads, the m60 coil packs will not bolts up (not without enlarging the mounting holes).

But then it has an m60 oilhousing filter. Which means that the front cover would need to have been changed.

So Im confused about this? Is it a m62/m60 mix?

Hey man, I have an M62b44 sitting in the garage, starting my swap in about two weeks.

Hey just curious. After plunging into the water, did the tow-truck pull you out JUST by the rear tow hook?

No not at all, I am not 100% sure where but this picture http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3290/5...c1ab7456_b.jpg shows it is not the bumper

Some M60's have also the holes, and e.g. early E38's had M60's with the additional "B+" point on left valve cover.

Saw the pictures of your car in the pond a while back. Did you replace all the wiring in the car? I'm surprised you fixed it honestly, as soon as a car goes over the door sills in water most say fuck it.

And too bad my car isn't m60 anymore, it could have been 1 more for Bimmerfest haha.

No I didn't but I am expecting issues once I get it back from the paint shop (shortly I hope). I plan on thinning the wiring myself over time and maybe just make my own harness for exactly my needs.

Love the car, sad to see her in the water. I'm glad you made it out ok.
I need to start saving up for a similar swap :)

This car certainly makes a splash in the E30 community.

Did you see what I did there?

                              Tony Danza did.

                                It is picture time!

She should be leaving the bodyshop next week and final assembly very shortly. ;-)
