    V8 Auto to Manual Conversion harness(DME7.2 EWS3)

There are two clutch pedal sensors, both 3-wire: one detects that the clutch pedal is depressed (to start), and the other one detects if the clutch pedal is being moved (cancels cruisecontrol).

    Pin 1 - Blue (12V source power)
    Pin 2 - Purple ( DME Pin23)
    Pin 3 - Brown (Ground)

Here is the reference for the clutch switch module pin-out. In short you will be supplying the clutch switch module with power from the brake switch wiring, you will connect a wire to the DME (ECU)

    PIN 3:
    - Purpose: Provides Ground for the power side of the clutch module
    - Connects too: Brake wiring, PIN 2

    PIN 2:
    - Purpose: Tells the DME (ECU) when the clutch is depressed in order to start the car.
    - Connects too: PIN 23 of the DME, Module number X6004

    PIN 1:
    - Purpose: Provides 12v voltage for the power side of the clutch module
    - Connects too: Brake wiring, PIN 1

    spliced:
Brake light switch wiring PIN-1 to PIN-1 of Clutch switch module(12v Power source)
DME (ECU) PIN#23 wire to PIN-2 of the Clutch switch module. (DME Signal)
Brake light switch wiring PIN-2 to PIN-3 of Clutch switch Module (Ground)

Basically introducing a 12V Power source to Pin23 of the DME will Bypass the Clutch interlock switch

I suppose these things were only required in the USA, as I haven't come across those here in Europe... ? What is the idea behind all that - keep clutch pressed when starting the car .. ?

After V8 Auto to Manual conversion no way to start

        Hi,

        I have a Nov96 E38 (BMW VIN DK32911)
I had the same problem, thanks very much for your clear and simple tuto.
I made the swap and did everything from your tuto except that the car does not start.
As you can see from the GT1 EWS analysis all the data are ok except for the Selector lever/Clutch switch that is maintained at the Driving position
Can you also tell me how I can remove the GS from the system?

        Tools I have:
        GT1
        ISID/ISSS
        Xprog-m
        CarKeyMaster 100
        ZedBull
        CarProg
        Gambit
        AK400
        Ak500

        Regards
