    oil pan clearance

Whats the oil pan clearance like with the V8 swaps. When looking into the S52 swap I was already planning on doing the subframe and pan modification and not the e34 route.

Wanted to know if there were any issues with the V8s.

it really depends on the mounts you use, some sit way lower than others, i did not shave anything on my oil pan and it fits fine

What mounts have you guys seen to give the best clearance.

My main concern is driving low and destroying a oil pan.

I'm very worried about this as well. I will have my car down on the wheels in the next couple Weeks. My pan sits a hair above the steering rack but I used 20mm spacers. My old exhaust was 3 inch so it hung pretty low and was always the first thing to hit. I purposely used 2.25 pipe for my headers and tucked it up high as possible. I'd be interested in the pan shaving link though.

There's no way you can get your oilpan much lower than the front subframe (unless modifying the oil pan itself), as the sump is very wide and shallow compared to 6cyl oil sumps (especially M50 sumps sit very, very low).

If you go _very low_ (-60mm is not very low), you could put a sump guard in there to be on the safe side.

at first i was not using spacers but my heater hoses were pretty close to the firewall where the hoses kinked but then i realized if i got spacers and lowered the engine a bit it would make a little room for my heater lines. if you have a aluminum welder you can probaly redirect those heater lines in the back of the engine and you be fine, i used the original lines so it was facing directly to the cabin

How low are the cars? I am used to driving pretty low and these swaps all scare me. I live in Florida where all roads are flat and we can drive as low as we like.
