So i have some free time so i figured i would make a thread for my soon to be drift car. First off this car is still a work in progress, its slow going because having a budget sucks but i hope to have it out and ready to compete in the first event this spring. A little about me, Im an aircraft mechanic for a company called Skyservice. We work mostly on private business jets but we have a few airliners we work on as well. As i update this thread with progress i hope to integrate some parts of an aircrafts electrical system into my car, not just for flash but because i've seen some things that could really prove useful in a dedicated track car so stay tuned. Here is what i work on

The story is i bought this car 1 year ago with the intention of RB20 swapping it, but as always i get carried away.. I decided to go for the Ls swap. I ended up buying a swap kit from the states, They have a thread here for their wicked E30-LS. Their user name is garretvs. check them out if you are even considering this swap! When i got the kit the quality was apparent. they took their time and lots of thought went into these mounts. The swap manual they send with it is super helpful as well! It comes with a master parts list of what you will need for the swap and it comes with part numbers. It really takes a lot of the guess work out of the swap and gives you a lot of knowledge going in which is a huge asset when taking on a swap like this. Here is their website, check them out!!

Here are pics of when i first seen the car
it looks horrible right!

So I got it home and started ripping everything out and cutting all sorts of stuff. It was a good time. I ended up filling my truck 3 times!
this is the bay after i hauled that useless motor out.

After some trimming, cleaning and paint.

interior time!
The floor was rotted bad here so i re built it.

Sound deadening removal (dry ice really works!)

In the middle of ripping everything out.

I used bed liner for durability and all that.

Trunk (still wet in pic)

This is it just being a shell.

So thats where the shell sits right now. Once the thing comes off the dyno it will be body time so pardon the crappy looking paint!
Now on to the components. I picked up a t-56 with a gear that had been stripped. The previous owner had 1000+hp going through it so it got rebuilt by RPM Transmissions. Should be good for 800+hp now and lots of clutch kicking!
Here is the trans, I cant wait to shift this thing!

Here is my motor. LS1 with spun bearing. The build begins.

I got a nice set of forged pistons going in.

All the machining you could think of has been done as well as clearancing. Nothing in this bottom end should fail. (ARP hardware visible too).

I also picked up a FAST manifold for it too.

Thats where the motor is at currently. I should have it back and ready for assembly in 2 weeks!!
I ended up going with a stack cluster to display all my readings. These things are great! So many fields being monitored! Here are some pics of the cluster and the panels i made to hold it in the dash as well as the future switch board/breaker panel.

Once my Motor gets back then things will really get going! Updates coming soon!
