well spent a lot of today researching and sounds like the work involved in this would not be worth it in my opinion so a big never mind to this.
It's a lot of work but the end result is worth it. You'll be seriously disappointed with anything less than an S52 in an e30. I've driven and done quite a few swaps and the V8 is my favorite. There is nothing like cruising around town in 3rd or 4th gear and just letting the low end grunt move the thing around effortlessly. It sounds better, launches harder and just looks at home in the engine bay of an E30. Keep at it. You'll have a swap only a handful of people in the country have done!

If I were you, I would order everything from garagistic and stick to an early m60.
Once you get familiar with the m60 you can venture off to something more powerful and modern.
I plan on going S62 after the initial m60 ecitement wears off... I'll have the 6spd and all the mounts to do it.
I'll save up $1800 to have that guy send a flashed ecu and wiring loom from europe and it'll be plug and play...

This. Garagistic has good stuff for great prices.
I'm in the broke boat too, but I'm far too deep into this to dip out. Just need time to get back into it too.

okay sorry everyone ive been dealing with motor swaps in other cars, selling car parts, and i also moved into a new place all in the past two weeks. today i worked some more on the car i removed my rad support to make it bolt on which i can already tell is going to be one of the best things i have done to this car. i also cleaned up my bay some and started working on the booster setup. i also cut out my battery tray to free up some space and make the bay look a litter cleaner. i will post some pictures tomorrow i once again forgot my camera... pictures and more progress tomorrow.
This is my slow progress lately, I have the m50 out and sold so I have some engine parts coming soon!! I have half my bay cleaned and painted with truck bed liner, I like how it looks so i will paint the whole bay with it. Ihave been working on the booster and pedal set up the past few days, I will have pictures of that soon but here are some of the bay with my removed radiator support. I needed some more money so I fixed these wheels up for a friend the past few days as well. wheels are xxr 002s 16x8
This is the battery tray removed, it looks a lot better
Before...
The mounts are great thank you again. Ive been working waay to much lately but i got my brake and clutch pedal setup done today and operable. I also shaved and welded half my bay today its coming out great more work on the booster tomorrow after work.
I welded in a new piece of sheet metal to cover up the old booster holes and where the clutch master came out looks much cleaner. Please dont make fun of the huge amount of seam sealer i used it was a small brush but still spread so much but you wont be able to notice when i got the bay all sanded down.
This is what I got accomplished today more to come tomorrow!
Got some more stuff done on the bay today, I welded in some more pieces to get the "shaved" look. I also worked on the booster.
This is the notch i cut so the booster would sit lower in the bay to clear the hood
I welded nuts on the underside so i can bolt it all together.
As of now i just have the booster sitting in place and linkages hooked up so everything works and works great.
The bay is almost all mocked up i have one more bracket for the top of the booster bracket to bolt to and a couple little holes in the bay to fill up then the bay will be ready for paint and a v8 more progress pics and info tomorrow.
So last weekend i tore this thing down and was actually really suprised how good these cylinders look being the nikasil block all cross hatching looks great in all eight. im thinking about just doing bearings and new seals in the bottom end then getting the heads gone through and rebuilt. I will be sending the heads out in a few weeks. But for now this is what I have got done.
The heads look really good no scores or anything on the lobes, the timing chains and guides look pretty good as well for having 150k on the motor, but i would still like the heads rebuilt. I will also be replacing all timing components and gaskets throughout this thing.
This is off topic but i also got my rear set up for my five lug swap i cannot wait to have this car all put together. I just need more time and money so it can be done asap.
