    At a glance differences between M60, M62 and M62TU?

Is there an easy way to tell the difference between these engines at a glance without resorting to checking numbers on the block?

When shopping online for a swap engine it would save a lot of time and phone calls if I could tell the difference just from an engine bay picture.

The M62TU intake manifold cover is more "sculpted" at the front? There are no bowden cables going to the front of the engine since FBW (electronic throttle).

Is there a way to tell between the M60 and M62?

    Thanks!

M62TU = Vanos units and water cooled alternator, exhaust manifolds, electronic tb should be an easy give away.

M62 and M60 look close though, so you would need to know what specifically to look for. IT would be easier to look at the VIN of the car you are looking at or Yeah/Model.

For M62 v M60, look at the harmonic balancer, 60 has "teeth", 62 does not.

^that would be a little hard for pics. The easiest way would be to look at the engine covers. M60 has a V-shpae in the rear for the coolant resivior
then look at oil filter location. M60's are mounted on the front driver side head whilst m62's are remote.

Oh ho! The M62 doesn't have the notch for the reservoir?
