    M60 versus M62 knock sensors

As I slowly make progress towards being able to finally start my build and its thread, I have yet another question.

In my research I have found that BMW changed the knock sensors on all M6x motors on 9/97.

I have not been able to positively identify what year and month my donor car's motor is from since I do not have the VIN nor the original vehicle. How can I tell what period my sensors are from? Are they 100% interchangeable for the purposes of the swap. That is to say, because I am using the M60 harness from earlier vehicles ( to allow the use of the 404) ECU and because the harness should be fitted for the older style knock sensors, can I install said knock sensors on my M62 with no problem?

I would use whatever sensor works with the 404 and the harness. I guess the only thing to find out is if they thread the same

Use knock sensors that match the harness ....obd1 vs obd2.

Knock sensors are not compatible. Different connectors.
