very helpful forum for v8 swappers

In researching the viability of running a 951 transaxle and torque tube setup with my e30 m3 m60 swap project, I came across the 944hybrids.com forum.

I've found a ton of useful v8 swap info there. I know the site is no big secret, but I wanted to put it out there for anyone doing the m6x swap (and especially the LS swappers) that hasn't yet seen it. The 944 guys have a LOT of useful information that directly translates to our swap woes. A lot of brake assist information, and everything else under the sun swap related. Check it out.

We had 2 944 race cars fitted with badass LS engines. They did munch 951 transmissions..... :(

      Transaxles

      Yeah,

I've often thought that if I were to do ground up design of a race car, the 924/944 transaxle and torque tube is the way to go for weight distribution.

That group seems like minded to old Skool BMW folk vs the deep pocket 911 purist crowd.

Go with C5/C6/C7 Corvette and keep the transmission ahead of the axle ;-)

In an E30 M3, why not go with the Z1 torque tube?

          That is an interesting idea.

The Z1 basically came with IX engines and transmissions. This allowed a different and unique oilpan for the Z1 to be used and thus mount the engine pretty far back in the bay.

The torque tube only bolts onto the back of the IX transmission, and I'm not sure the wheel base is identical between the two as the Z1 had more of an E36 rear suspension.

The IX gearbox doesn't bolt up to M60's
