With the t56 and a 225/50/15(23.86 OD) id suggest 3.46, 3.73s might be too short but the 3.64 could be ok. You'll still spin in 3rd with the 3.46 easily though

To have te same gearing as a fbody you would want 3.15
    We're out there in here.

Yeah, 3.91 is a lot of gear for such a powerful engine in such a light car.

I asked the same question about a week or so ago http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=324625

Ive been looking for a 3.46 for about 2 months now and they are next to impossible to find in LSD and if you do people want $400 for them which is a joke. So ive resorted to going with a 3.15 torsen lsd from a Z3 which can be found easily for $200

depends on what your definition of drivable is. for track drivability anything will do, depending on the track. IMO a 3.73 is pretty nice.

for street drivability.... well, a 5-600hp v8 + sub 3,000lb car != drivable. if you're not packing a lot of tire all you'll do is light em up. if you do have enough tire you'll snap axles, ect.

not to say it isn't great; it's a blast. but definitely not reasonable.

who says it has to have 500-600hp? LS1 can be 350-400hp -- I've been in two e30's with closer to a 400hp setup, it's damn quick, but no unreasonable if you can control your right foot. 600hp, that's total overkill

im just an overkill kind of person, i did and do intend on having fat(ISH) rear tires to help with traction. in terms of driveability i just mean in terms of running out of gear. a ration that will allow me to play with everything i plan throwing in it.. i dont want that feeling of.. "i know it has more but i cant get any out of her"

Unless you yawn at bonafide race cars on a daily basis I don't think you'll have any issues with the car.

Play around with this site for a while to figure out what rear you want. Even with a 4.10 rear you're topping out at 124mph... in fourth gear. Sixth will take you into veyron territory as long as you've got the supporting power, aero and parts. In short: rear end gearing isn't the biggest deal when you've got a six speed with a .5 overdrive and a ton of power.
