A built 632 can push 1000+ HP naturally aspirated.

But nobody in their right mind puts that engine in a non-tube frame car.

The 1uz is a cool engine. My opinion though, m60's are basically bolt-in by now, are very light due to the Al block, can be found for under $500 anywhere, and will last 300k+ miles. Boosted m60's will make 600hp+ on stock internals. VAC apparently builds 600hp N/A m60's as well (at a significant cost, and it's likely a 1 race motor). It's probably just not done nearly as often with m60's as with the 1uz's.

There are massive internal differences between the VVTI motors and the older ones, with the rods being the largest difference. For boost, get the older motor. For a nice stock motor that will give you 300hp and last 500k miles with weight similar to an M20, go VVTI. It will cost $4K-$5k dollars either way, conservatively.

At 10.5:1 compression, I highly doubt it was ever intended to have forced induction.

I'd get the VVT-I 97-and up, output was rated at 300 hp and 310 lb·ft of torque. Although the head might be swapped over.. Seems like it was made to be boosted and raced but I like that is soo much lighter

Worth noting, a 9krpm 1UZ is a $15k-$20k motor. Those parts are hideously expensive

    9000rpm 1UZ-FE V8 would be a super cool engine.

    M62B44 is a neat engine.

LS1 is an overdone engine, but still a good engine.

Ford 302 is a cheap engine.

Small Block Chev is admitting that you had neither the intelligence or the money to buy an LS1.

Big Block Chev are a useless boat anchor.

I have a full speadsheet with everything needed and priced out to get a 1UZ into an E30.

When Toyota took the Supra racing in the JGTC series in Japan, they removed the 2JZ and replaced it with a 1UZ...

You have to build it for power. Kinda like using M5x stuff in an M20.

    But really, it's a good engine.....if a bit anemic.

M60 drops you pretty close to the 300tq/300hp range out of the box.

According to wiki, it doesnt make shit for power. Might as well go LSX

In its standard, original trim with 10:1 compression, power output is 191 kW (256 hp), torque of 353 N·m (260 lb·ft).[1]

    1UZ-FE
The engine was slightly revised in 1995 with lighter connecting rods and pistons and an increased compression ratio to 10.4:1 resulting in peak power of 195 kW (261 hp) and torque of 363 N·m (268 lb·ft).

In 1997, Toyota's VVT-i variable valve timing technology was introduced along with a further compression ratio increase to 10.5:1,[1] bumping power and torque to 216 kW (290 hp) and 407 N·m (300 lb·ft). In the GS400 application, output was rated at 300 hp and 310 lb·ft of torque.

^^ That is a great suggestion!

    UZs are pretty awesome.

The best V8 engine to swap in small cars for weight distribution is the famous 1uz-fe. They were built for racing but that venture was cancelled and the used the motor to put them in trucks. They are easy to work on, easy to swap, light weight, many applications for twin turbo, single turbo, superchargers done to this motor with its stock forged internals.

You can even swap the 2uz fe 4.7L block for a shit load more torque. You can use the supra manual trans which is identical to the s54..

These motors are even used for air craft and boat racing.. They are easy to find and cheap, you can use the stock ecu of pleanty of after market ecu. I believe theirs a racing ecu for 4 to 500 bucks.

A 1uz weighs less than a 2jz, sits farther back in the bay and can rev to 9k when the heads and rotating assembly are done right.. That's a V8 REVVING TO 9K.

I like to see moree 1uz fe E30's here in America..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clRvHdA47rw
