    m60b40 project; engine harness question

I have a question. the wire harness that came off my 95 740i auto motor doesn't seem to resemble the other swaps I see throughout the internet. My harness has a loom of wires coming out of the hole where others have the x20 connector. was there more than one type of harness for this generation?

Im referring to the passenger side plastic wire housing towards the rear end of it. where the connector would be. if someone can help me out? should I just buy the wire harness im always seeing on other swaps or is the connector located in a different spot?? sorry in advanced if this is a newb question

IIRC, thats a M62 in the picture, not a M60, they have different Harnesses.

        (in Disguise For now.)
how can you be sure that's an m62? my 95 740i motor came with a engine harness that looked like the "m62" one but the junk yard claimed it was a 4.0.
I bought another engine harness online because the junk yard cut my first one. On ebay the guy stated it was for an m60 but still resembles the
"m62" harness as far as the connector location goes... so my question from this point is how can I confirm what my engine is? If idid end up having an m62 can I get it started with m60 wiring and the 404dme or that's impossible?

well here is the problem i think: 95 was the changeover year from e32 to e38.
          both of these exist:
          95 e32 m60
          95 e38 m60

the e38 wiring is laid out like the later m62 wiring, as they updated it for the body style.

is the connector not located like in the picture under the red arrows?

not sure on if you can use the e38 harness or not, but I don't see why not. does the dme connector fit your 404 dme?

find your engine block stamps to find out what motor it actually is.
