If you don't have the capability to fine tune the crank sensor offset in your DME, it's probably not a great idea.

I'm not sure if the M60 lower timing cover can install to an M62, but that's the direction I'd be looking.

I've been very interested in knowing this, and so far I haven't come across an answer. Along a similar line, does the M60 pulley/crank wheel go right on the M62 without undue difficulty?

Frank malacuso has a write up on how to do this in his m62/s62 swap manual for the 6 speed. You might send him an email.

You do not need to drill holes in the bell housing. you can but i have never seen anyone do it. the easiest rout is to swap over the front timing cover fron an m60 because it has the cps mounting bracket.

the only issue is the gap between the top covers and the bottom. some say you can seal the gap with rtv and it wont leak.

other methods are to cut the cps bracket off the m60 cover and weld it to the m62 cover. simple if you know someone who can tig weld.

or what monkeymadness did and i copied is to buy an m20 cps bracket. shorten it 5/8 of an inch. and have it re welded. now you have a bracket with two holes, all you need to do is tap the front cover and bolt the cps bracket on.

Yea that's true, I believe the cps must read the trigger wheel in the fly wheel. You could just extend the cps harness and drill a flush hole on the five speed if you wanted to keep it obd2
