    Aluminum flakes in coolant?

A few weeks ago my heater core burst while driving, the passenger side plastic let go. When I drained the coolant that was left in the block it had what looks like glitter in it, non ferrous.

What could this be a sign of?

I did drive the car home with very little coolant in it and the engine got hot but I didn’t think it bad enough to do any damage, I will find out if I need to pull the head soon enough when I can get the car back together and start it to see what happens. New core and stuff is on the way.

Could be old stop leak or bits of a water pump, or even leftovers from a cylinder head skim that wasn't cleaned out.
