13 button OBC question - M MPH light won't turn off

Hi r3v, quick question for the peeps with the 13 button OBC. On my 1990 325iS, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this red LED on the "M MPH" button to turn off (see pic below). I've tried setting a max speed, resetting it, etc. and it just stays on. Is this normal for you guys too or is there a way to turn this off somehow? Car also has a mystery viper alarm wired in/installed for what it's worth... not sure if that's messing with the OBC in any way.

The M MPH light will stay illuminated when a driver-specified speed limit warning is set to on. When you reach the specified speed limit you will hear a gong and the M MPH light will flash until velocity is less than the limit set, at which point the M MPH light will stay constantly illuminated.

Press M MPH > SET-RES. Then use the 1000 100 10 1 buttons to cycle through the numbers to set a limit. I can’t remember if you’ll see “— — — —“ or just a blank screen for no set limit, then press SET-RES to store the value, and M MPH to turn it on. I’m relying on memory, so it might not be exactly like I’ve posted, but if it’s still illuminated all the time there’s an issue.

Plan B is disconnect and reconnect the battery to clear the OBC of all settings including clock time.

    hope this helps!

Thanks and this is super helpful! I tried the factory instructions per the manual and also per your note, but the light still stays on. Even after disconnecting the battery for a week, it still stays on. Quite strange. I'm willing to bet it's related to my aftermarket, and very period-correct Viper alarm... haven't had time to tinker with it yet though.
