E30 ignition swtich RHD vs LHD

    Hello E30 boffins,

Can anyone tell me if the LHD ignition switch suits a my RHD car?

The part number for my car that is shown on real oem as 61321374871 and going by photos it looks close to the same, although my swtich has an additional plug on it. not sure what this plug does, but worst case i can solder it onto the new switch.

BMW Australia want close to $600 for what they claim to the the right part, another local guy wants $330 and a 4 week wait. Both are offering part number 61321374868 (superceeds 61321374871) . Which USA based shops do not seem to offer.

I cant see any reason why it wont, except that when i went to order it on pelican parts (61321374967) there is a comment suggesting it didnt suit his RHD car. not sure if it doesnt work as expected (ie needs some wiring changed) or if the switch doesn't physically clip onto the barrel.

I really only care about the switch part itself, if i need to re solder wires etc thats not a big deal. As you can see mine the keyway is very worn.

Here are some photos of my actual switch. Its a 1985 323i. which would be euro spec i suppose, rather than usa spec. I don't belive this is an OEM part. it has an "LK" or "IK" logo on the back.
