    Air Conditioning Help

    Hi all,

having some issues with my AC system and it won’t blow cold.
I have replaced everything during a restoration.

Initially i gassed the system up and on the AC compressor I could see slight AC oil dripping on the pulley. This seems to have ceased now and it doesn’t leak gas but the AC is not very cold.

Its R134a converted with a Nissens parallel flow condenser.

When AC not running low and high side are about 120psi

When running at idle the low side is about 70 PSI and High side is about 200. I believe 70 is too high on the low side.

Rev it up and the low side drops to 20-30 PSI and high side goes to 250psi but still no cold air. Which sounds normal but no better.

Any thoughts what this could be? I’ve gassed it to 700 grams, 800 grams, 900 grams and no change really. Temp out the vents never below 22 degrees C

A few thoughts, a helpful reference is "Just needs a Recharge" by Rob Siegel (cheap investment when working or vintage AC). Is your condenser fan operating and pushing air over the coils? I replaced my fan and didn't reverse the wiring so it was pulling air out versus pushing air in.

Did you insulate the expansion valve properly?
