    No start

Hey guys, I’m new to the bmw scene but I just got a 1986 325e and it won’t start. It came with no battery so I put one in and it cranks but won’t start. I thought it wasn’t getting fuel so I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Same thing happened, but it is getting fuel now because I took off the fuel line at the fuel rail and it started pissing out. Next issue was spark, tested the main coil and it is working. I also replaced the spark plugs and still nothing. And just today i got a new dme and fuel pump relay from a friend to test it but still nothing.. any info helps

I would start with a compression test. If the timing belt has jumped you'll chase your tail on everything else. Check that you have spark, remove a plug, ground it and crank the engine, see if you have spark. Check the fuel pressure, having fuel flow is only half the system. The E engines have two sensors in the bell housing. One is engine speed (reads the teeth on the flywheel), the second is a reference sensor (reads a tang on the flywheel). The ECU needs to see both to start.

    Some good information here: https://eeuroparts.com/blog/e30-no-s...%20the%20green.
