M60 Swap misfire plus running hot? Ideas?

M60B40 swap started having a misfire only after long drive and when I get intro higher gears on highway. Pressing gas causes the misfire, letting up it does not. Idle is rough intermittent. When car is cold no misfire.

Cleaned MAF, changed plugs, and found 3 coil packs with oil. Changed valve cover gaskets.

Drove car for an hour and it was perfect, however, it reached operating temperature within a minute and the temp gauge pegged at about 7/8s. Usually it would sit just at half or a little further. Never overheated during the drive but sometimes got into red.

2 days later drove it again and the misfire came back (not nearly as bad) on the highway again. It was barely noticeable whereas before it was almost hard to drive. Temp still hit high end of gauge.

Any ideas on these? Two separate issues or one issue? I don’t see how VCG change would affect temp. Running Z3M radiator and electric fan. Fan turns on.

Engine running hot will cause all sorts of issues. You need to solve that first. Are you sure there is no air in the cooling system? As for the fan, is it blowing the right direction? I chased my tail on my AC when I installed the fan blowing in the wrong direction.

Yep installed in the right direction. It drove for a long time perfectly fine before this misfire issue that I went after. Only after the VCG change did the temp issue happen.

I'm going to pull the cluster today and see if it's a bolt issue on the back of the temp gauge. It does bounce a little sitting at idle.
