Key stuck in the tumbler in on position

Last night i went to turn off my 1987 325ic and the key wouldnt budge. The steering wheel isnt locked up or anything but the lock wont move backwards or release the key. I dont want to break the key and i know the ignition switch was acting up the other day but i didnt think it would cause the key to not be removed from the tumbler

If the key is in the on position, try removing the whole tumbler. There are a few video where people use a paperclip to pull the tumber with the key.
