OK, I knowthat I need a bently, but I don't have one and I'm trying to get this fixed tomorrow.
what I've found so far:
needle moves very slightly when the key is turned on
no voltage on the brown/violet wire that runs to the plug for the sensor on the t-stat housing.
the brown ground wire on the plug is still good.
I tried shorting the brown/violet wire and nothing.
I'm thinking the wire from the guage is broken somewhere or it has a bad connection.
When it leaves the sensor plug and goes into the wire harness for the injector rail, where does it go thru the firewall at? I split the main loom on the pass side and it isn't in there.
I also looked at the main plug by the brake booster and I see a brown/violet wire in there, however it appears to be a slightly larger wire (16 guage versus the 18 guage on the sensor). Is this the correct place to look for the wire? My next step will be to pull the cluster and find the wire behind it if I have to. I am just trying to avoid pulling the cluster if I can. PO spliced a few wires from the injector harness so I suspect that is where my problem is.
cliff notes: where the hell does the temp sensor wire for the cluster go thru the firewall on its way to/from the guage?
