you can either slide the antenna off of the brass like bracket which is mounted to the body of the car with a 8mm or just take the bracket off all together.

If its a homemade job, it might better for you to post a pic.

I've gotten the bracket off. It's just the outside chrome nut assembly that has that tiny BMW logo stamped on it. The ring above that is loose but it just won't come out, it's redic. Are there and securring bolts on nuts on the inside that help hold this chrome assembly on the outside?

The antenna is kindof pressure fitted into the rubber bushing that keeps the water out. If you wiggle it around and pull down it should come out. If you are going to delete the antenna you can also cut the rubber off and this will then allow the unit to fall into the trunk.
The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

Are you sure if you cut the rubber it'll fall through? I think one of the chrome base parts is too wide to fall through....
Thanks for all the helpful insight so far!!!

If you can't get the antenna out then I suggest you take a big hammer and an extention bar and hit the top of the antenna into the trunk. Of course I am assuming that everthing has been disconected on the inside first!

I think I understand your dilema, I put that chrome piece on my car before it's from an e21 not an e30 antena.
There are 2 pieces securing the outside of the antena, you have to unscrew the top of the chrome part counter-clockwise you may have to use a flathead screw driver and a small hammer, the reason why it's stuck is because the PO sort of used the original rubber to keep water from leaking into the trunk. Once you've taken the upper part off you can wiggle it around and pull the mast from the bottom (inside the trunk) hopefully this helps, GL.
