    leaky trunk

well after having my car outside in the rain for the day, i went in the trunk and felt the carpet. it was all wet\the whole carpet.. im thinking its the sealing arould the taillight.the tail light also has water in it to. what can i do to get the damn water out???

i believe i can do this on my own with culk or reseal the whole trunk.

i do not want to take it to a body shop.

    here are pics

Take the lights out from the back. Then remove the actual reflector and dump the water out. Then get a new seal and replace the reflector and bulbs. I actually put a clear bead of caulk around mine (you'd never notice it and it keeps the water out.

I think thats what is happening to mine. The water collects around the car jack area and I could never figure out where it was from. Thanks.

It could also be a trunk sealing but first replace tail light gaskets.

I used one of those car wash driers, its like leather type one, it collects lot of water which makes easier to dry out those kind of water puddles, or go up to your local vacuum cleaners and let it suck the whole water out.

Exactly where the water was collecting in mine, I'd suspect the tail light gasket.

I found a small hole in the drain gutters in my trunk. I cleaned it up and sealed it off and no more leaks.

I also have a trunk leak and im lucky i know the exact source mine is caused by a gap between the trunk lid and the car itself causing a poor seal wich the only way to fix this is to get another trunk lid (got that) and to take the car to a body shop.

Car was rear ended in a parking lot 2 years ago smashing the rear end in a bit and puting a nice bend in the lid now creating puddles above the battery when it rains.

                      Goodluck

Holesa can develop in those wheel wells like they did on mine. Just seal em up with some fiberglass repair kit,
