z4 in my 318

im having trouble installing the z4 2.5 in....i got everything out...but...on my 318 i have a SPRING and a SPRING cap and ring that locks them in....do i need that for my z4?

some are telling me that all i need is another white cup to put over the top of the ball and im done.....

others are telling me i need the spring and the spring hat etc....so basically every ring that was on the stock shifter has to be on the new one....someone help....i was looking at the FAQ and i find anything thats helping

You have a sheet metal console. It's the aluminum console that has the 'white cup'.

You have to reuse pretty much everything you take out. There's a white cupped washer that goes below (easy to reuse), a white cupped washer that goes above (I'd recommend getting a new one, filing it down a little bit, and sliding it over the new lever), the spring (reuse), metal ring (reuse, I cut mine and just put it in like that), and circlip (reuse).
